Seeing the 'Che' styled title, don't think that I'm going speak about communism or capitalism or socialism. And I'm not a person with left, right & central political views but some moments which we come across(see, hear or feel) will always stay there in our heart. I had a little conversation which stayed there with some poignant note.
The bus was empty and I was the first one to get in and sat in the window seat. As soon as I bought the ticket to Palladam I've started to read the book "CB's Revolution 2020" and never moved my eyes out of the book till I heard an old man started to speak rather shout. He was sitting in my adjacent seat wearing white shirt and dhoti, looked like he's in his 60's. He started cursing the government for the fare hike and soon some other people in white also joined him. Feeling irritated that they've interrupted my reading, I shut my book and kept in my bag.
I've started to observe them and it felt like a good discussion. I've mentioned it as a discussion, not a debate because every one speaking were in the same side - opposing both state and central governments for the price hikes. My aisle seat was occupied by a man in my age group, who carried a lunch bag with him. Anyone from these area can easily identify that he may be an employee of a spinning mill in Tirupur.
As the old men were discussing in high decibels, the man next to me spoken after a big sigh that he's recently married and earning Rs.6000 a month and struggling to lead his life. He added how he struggles to pass the days from 15th to 30th of each month. Also he describes the prices variation of several life stocks from last year to today where I gained some knowledge. After speaking for about 10 minutes he added with teary eyes that he cannot move a month without borrowing some money from his neighbours.
He said he used to take Fifty rupees for his daily expenses before the fare hike but now he has to spend Hundred rupees a day. He was put in to a situation where he has to struggle with just Rs.3000 left alone for a complete month.
I thought, "God what can I say to convince this man??? or what idea can I give this man to get him out of his problems???". I nodded silently to what ever he said and waved bye when my stop came.
Everyone say that India is a country which is diversified by language, cultures, religion & colour. But the one main diversity is the financial difference between people. With a heavy heart I went to have conversation with one of my client and my day started to change into my usual one...
Lesson learned: Try to live a simple life like the people who're below par and save those penny to help those flocks.
